From the moment a child enters our lives, we are changed. Everything we believed to have control over, what easily could be adjusted with a scratch of a pen…that plan just doesn’t play out and our needs are quickly placed on the back-burner. All we can do is surrender. We surrender to reality, love, hurt, fear and joy. We surrender to motherhood.
Days Continue on Earth
Life has handed this family more heartache than one could fathom as bearable. All I wanted for this session was to honor their story and give them moments that capture their love. What you’re about to read are honest words from a mother and the hard truth behind loss and grief. What I hope you feel is the strength of love and the warm light from a very special little girl that continues to shine.
When Life Speaks
At times, it seemed like life contained an endless amount of days. I used to live each moment like I had another. Sure, I appreciated all of my blessings. I was grateful for my family, friends, health, etcetera, but was I really living each day with a purpose or was I just going through the motions? On March 28th, 2016, out of nowhere, life spoke to me. Ok, life didn't just speak, it screamed at me, "WAKE UP!"
The Making of a Family
There is much more to birth photography than the actual moment of birth. It’s mom squeezing dads hand in pain, the OB talking softly preparing her to push. It’s the baby placed on the moms bare skin for the first time. The cutting of the cord, the start of a journey. It’s the making of a family.
Perfectly Imperfect
I am always looking for ways to translate feelings into imagery. It’s that overwhelming feeling of love that just gets me. Happiness, and fear existing together. A bond that will never be broken. All those factors come together and then all of a sudden you have something so beautiful you can feel it deep within. Real life is wonderful but it’s freaking chaotic too! We are here for such a short time on this Earth.
The Art of Us
As a photographer, I'm able to give the gift of memories. It's as close as I can get to the gift of time. Time...our most precious commodity. We live in a World where moments come to life at the click of a button. Society bombards us at every angle with interuptions, making it more difficult to focus our energy on time with those we care about.
